On the banks of Rutland water and set in the nature reserve is the back to basic caravan site of Lyndon top.
At this time of year the famous Rutland osprey are usually found nesting or raising their young on a nest site just below the caravan site .... The site manager has witnessed several times one of the adult osprey landing in the field pictured above.
A pub is in 10 minute walking distance, a golf club just next to the site whose 19th hole can be used by site residents and a garden centre with cafe 10 minute walk away.
Dogs are welcome but MUST be kept on a lead at all times.
This back to basic site is just £10 a night however as the back to basic suggests, the only facilities on site are fresh running water from several taps around the site and a chemical toilet emptying point.
YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN TOILET. There are also NO SHOWERS and No EHU
Bikes can be hired to bike around the reservoir.
There is a boat club nearby but I have yet to investigate.
A short drive away are the market towns of Oakham, Melton Mowbray, Uppingham and stamford.
I have provisionally booked 10 spaces but if more wish to attend then this is not a problem.....an area overlooking the reservoir has been requested but this is not guaranteed.
